                        The Blood Devil



                                     The blood devil or the RIRI YAKA  is one of the great devils in Sri Lanka. In Sri Lankan Demonology this devil plays a main role. This devil is very famous, among Sri Lankans. In THUN SAMAYAMA Riri Yaka gets the offerings first.

                                      According Sri Lankan mythology this demon was born by the blood drops that fall from the great monkey sage Hanuman. As mentioned elsewhere the Blood Demon was born to Valiya of Sayirashta Desha and Lethali Yakshani. Furthermore, there are seven births to this demon. 

                                     In describing the appearance of the Riri devil, carrying a Ymugura to the right hand and a rooster to the left, climbed on to a goat and dressed in red robs with a monkey face.

                                     This devil is used to inflict a severe form of witchcrafts and these witchcrafts are very dangerous. They cannot be easily undone. To undone these there are very difficult cutting tasks such as MAHA LETHALIYA, KUDA LETHALIYA, AVAMANGALLE PIDENIYA, DARAHEVA.

                                     Daha Ata Sanniya, Thunsamayan Pelapaliya, RIriyak Baliya are some of rituals that done for this devil.
